A SENSITIVE, CHARACTER-LED RENOVATION WHERE history & modern family life, COME TOGETHER. 

This project centred on a remarkable Jersey farmhouse spanning two historic periods; the 1600s and the 1800s. A home rich with character and architectural detail. The brief was to honour its heritage while quietly integrating the comfort and functionality of modern family living. With the property listed, no structural alterations were required, allowing the existing fabric to guide the design direction: granite archways, original fireplaces, and centuries-old staircases became the foundation for the aesthetic and colour palette.

Behind the scenes, the work was extensive, with significant upgrades to the kitchen, electrics, and plumbing, while carefully preserving the authenticity of the building. New and antique furniture were blended to create a style that feels both grounded in history and effortlessly practical. Moving the laundry room upstairs was a transformative change for this busy family of five, and each child’s bedroom was designed to reflect their individual interests and personality.

Collaboration with local joinery companies allowed us to create bespoke built-in solutions that worked cleverly with the pitched ceilings and irregularities of the original structure, maximising floor space while adding charm and craftsmanship.

Alongside the main house, I also renovated the guest cottage, a smaller, more budget-conscious project that offered a wonderful opportunity to show how thoughtful design can elevate a space at any scale. It now serves as a warm, inviting extension of the farmhouse, with its own quiet character.

The result is a sensitive, character-led renovation where history and modern family life come together seamlessly, proof that meaningful design doesn’t depend on size, but on understanding how a home should truly feel.
